The scientific periodical titled "Journal of Engineering, Energy and Informatics" (published by the Scientific Publications Division of the State University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz) follows the highest editorial standards and the rules of publication ethics in order to prevent unfair publishing practices. The Editorial Team acts with respect for the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics, COPE) (https://publicationethics.org/; http://publicationethics.org/files/Full%20set%20of%20Polish%20flowcharts.pdf).

Their standards concern the ethical rules to be followed by the editor, authors and reviewers at every stage of work on the publication.


EDITOR'S OBLIGATIONS

  • follow ethical standards and prevent violation of accepted standards,
  • objective assessment of articles based on the analysis of formal aspects (conformity with the Editorial guidelines for authors), substantial requirements as well as the opinions presented in the scientific papers. The major criterion of article assessment is its scientific value, unique approach to the subject and clarity of the elaboration.
  • follow the fair play rule, which means that articles submitted for publication shall be assessed only in formal and substantial aspects,
  • ensure scientific reliability of published articles – should there be any signs of unfair practices (plagiarism, falsification of research outcomes), the article will be rejected,
  • follow the confidentiality rule, that is not disclosing information on articles submitted for publication to any unauthorised persons,
  • prevent the conflict of interest between authors, editors and reviewers,
  • prevent ghostwriting and guest authorship practices,
  • reject the article if it shows any signs of plagiarism, autoplagiarism or violates the ethical rules; if there is a clear evidence that research results are not credible, fabricated or in case of unintentional errors (e.g. in calculation and methodology); if research results have already been published in another article.


 AUTHOR'S OBLIGATIONS

  • ensure reliability and uniqueness of research results presented in the article, including the possibility to identify the sources of cited studies and attaching a bibliography listing all publications referred to in the article,
  • follow the rule to share data with the editor (raw research results), also after the publication,
  • follow the rule to prevent the conflict of interest of authors,
  • follow the authorship rule – in articles prepared by multiple authors, the contribution of individual authors must be reported in terms of article preparation, preventing unfair scientific practices and preventing ghostwriting and guest authorship,
  • obligation to provide a prompt reply to any editor's or reviewer's comments at every stage of the publication process and also to report any errors or inconsistencies found after the publication in order to correct them in the following edition.


REVIEWER'S OBLIGATIONS

  • follow the rule of timeliness of review,
  • follow the confidentiality rule – non-disclosure of reviewed works to unauthorised persons,
  • prevent the conflict of interest,
  • follow the objectiveness rule while reviewing the article and the rule to provide proper argumentation,
  • follow the source reliability rule and inform the editor immediately if any signs of scientific unreliability or similarity to other works (plagiarism) are found.
